Services
Families or individuals qualify for assistance by visiting the Food Bank on a Monday or Thursday between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm and are required to fill out an application form. Persons should bring in verification of expenses and income, Medicare’s for dependent children living at home, and some sort of ID like drivers license. Copies of hydro bills, rent receipts are also helpful. The intake interview process will take about ½ hour of your time. No preset appointment is necessary.
FOOD HAMPERS
Monthly food hampers provide emergency nutritional needs for families and individuals needing assistance. The food hamper will contain milk, eggs, bread, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, canned soups, canned vegetables, canned fruit, some fresh produce depending upon availability. The food hamper will provide 3-5 day supply of food.
SPECIAL DIET ITEMS on request
Ensure/Boost, low sodium products, sugar free products, gluten free breads, Soya milk.
SCHOOL LUNCHS
Drinking boxes, cheese & crackers, fruit cups, granola bars, fruit roll-ups, puddings, sandwich fillings, yogurt cups & 100% juice boxes. No nuts please!
BABY NEEDS
Diapers pre packaged in 6 to 8, infant formula, Pabulum, all baby foods, baby cookies, baby powder, baby lotion.
PERSONAL ITEMS
Shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, razors. depends
CLOTHING and HOUSEHOLD
The Food Bank receives and redistributes all articles (free). Children’s clothing, casual large size tops and pants, maternity wear, winter coats, sneakers, boots, and blankets are all most welcomed items. We take dishes, pots and pans, small appliances and etc. (no computers or electronics please)
SPECIAL FOOD BOX DELIVERY
Seniors or shut ins with disabilities – we provide a monthly delivery service only on a special designated day. Clients may not chose what time of month they require a box, but must go with the delivery schedule. Must be signed up prior.
UNABLE TO GET TO THE BANK??
We partner with Neighborhood link. They will pick up your box and deliver it to you. Pre arrangements must be made 7 days in advance. Their number is 462-0080
FOOD BANK MOBILE I
Clients must be registered with food bank with up to date data. Dates are picked on second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Boxes are delivered to predetermined locations in Fredericton. Must be sign up prior
BUS TICKETS
We receive 450 bus tickets from City of Fredericton for a 12 month program. We give clients upon request 2 – 4 tickets at one time. Chris will assign, and sign out the tickets.
COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX PROGRAM
Income Taxes completed – Months of March & April
By appointment only
Free income taxes are completed for simple non complicated taxes, must be under $24,000 per year income
JOB BANK
Postings are on bulletin board at front entrance, we are also willing to use our computer to do job searches for a client if requested
FAXES OR EMAILS
We are always willing to assist clients find work, or assist with faxing papers for medical claims and etc.
FURNITURE PROGRAM
We offer computer service to search “Fredericton recycle.com” for free furniture.
We offer a matching program, where people call with donations, we post it on our bulletin board at the front entrance, and match people up
We receive limited supply of beds and etc from Leon’s Furniture, which we give to clients
We do not pick up furniture when requested from the public, and do not store furniture
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Starting in June through September families may apply for school supply assistance. We provide exercise books, pens, pencils, notebooks, construction paper. A complete list is provided on line during those months.
CHRISTMAS DINNER HAMPERS
(850 hampers with turkeys)
Each year Christmas Hampers are provided (complete with candy and turkeys). Pre registration is required starting September 1st.
CHRISTMAS GIFT PROGRAM (2000 gifts)
New gifts are purchases from caring people in the community. Families register with the Food Bank, and children put in their Christmas Wish. Approx 750 children receive two gifts, and a stocking full of small gifts and candy. Pre registration is required starting September 1st.
