Marysville Place Community Garden
A partnership between the Fredericton Food Bank and Marysville Place
The purpose of the garden is to initiate an urban-agriculture project which will help people of Marysville to have access to healthy food, encourage Marysville Place employees to engage in the garden as part of ther wellness activities. In addition to healthy eating and healthy living, the projected will foster environmental stewardship addressing issues of food security, provide demonstration sites of composting techniques, water collection systems, rain gardens, green projects for schools, teaching workshops all showing best practices of new approaches with actions regarding climate change.
The organic garden will host 150 large gardening plots with a tool shed and tools, enabled gardening section for people with physical or other limitations and areas for plants that like to stretch like squash.
Registration for plots is anticipated for the 2012 gardening season. Volunteers are welcome to come and help build the water collection system, divide up the soil into raised beds and put up the fence to name a few of the activities planned.
Planning Committees will start meeting in late January 2012.

Current financial supporters of the garden are: United Way, Environmental Trust Fund and Home Depot Canada Foundation. More funding applications are being submitted as the budget for the garden has not been met. The project is endorsed and approved by the Minister of the Department of Environment and the Department of Supply and Services with cooperation and support from the City of Fredericton.
